

Salutations Picklers, and welcome to Pickleball at the OFJCC!
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and is now the third most popular participation sport in the nation. It’s fun, social and fast-paced, and combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. Best of all, pickleball can be enjoyed by players of all ages and abilities! It’s a great mix of exercise, socializing and friendly competition.
The OFJCC offers a wide variety of pickleball programs for all skill levels.

The perfect starting point for new/casual players who have never received professional coaching. Participants at this level will learn the fundamentals of pickleball with the goal of improving basic skills and having fun with other players.
Skill Level: Beginner
- Tuesdays, 9/9–10/14 | No session 9/23 | 9:30–10:15 PM | Five 75-minute sessions
- Fridays, 9/19–10/17 | No session 9/12 | 3:00–4:15 PM | Five 75-minute sessions

This clinic builds on the lessons from Level One and focuses on more sophisticated versions of core skills. Players will learn to perform these fundamentals consistently during live-game situations. Participants may need to take this course more than once before graduating to the next level.
Skill level: Advanced Beginner/Early Intermediate

For serious picklers only! Participants at this level have a good handle on the skills learned at Level Two and want to put them together into better constructed points and strategy. Participants will explore advanced shots and receive hands-on, point-by-point coaching. Sessions will be adapted to the interests and skills of the participants.
Skill level: Intermediate/Advanced
(Participants must complete our Level Two clinic prior to registration or have a pickleball DUPR rating of 3.5+)

Beat the Banger: Sunday, 9/7 | 1:00–2:15 PM
Don’t be overwhelmed by aggressive players! Join Coach Ron as he teaches you the skills and tactics to counter high-pressure opponents with smart strategy and pinpoint precision. You will learn how to stay calm under pressure, control the pace of play and turn defense into offense with confidence.
Perfecting the Serve: Sunday, 9/7 | 2:30–3:45 PM
Build a serve that sets the tone for every rally and gives you the edge from the very first shot. This workshop is the perfect opportunity for players who want to serve smarter, hit stronger and take control of the game. Learn techniques that boost consistency, add power and keep your opponents guessing—all in a fun, focused way!
Open to all players and skills levels (ages 16+)
Members: $30 one session | $50 both sessions
Non-Members/General Public: $50 one session | $70 both sessions

Each team is required to have at least one active member to participate.

Meet the coach!
Ron Gentile is an avid pickleball player and coach including coaching at the Palo Alto Pickleball Club where he teaches people of all levels. He has played a wide range of sports including racquet/paddle sports like tennis and ping pong, as well as endurance sports like Ironman triathlons. Ron has also been the point person for the Palo Alto Pickleball Club in articulating the significant role pickleball plays in addressing key community issues such as loneliness, mental health and obesity. He’s currently the founder of mental health company Moodfit and began his career at Adobe. He has a PhD from Purdue University.
